Important tax tip about the hotel: In order to be state tax exempt a person will need to have a Tennessee Tax Exemption form. The individual payment will also need to be with an organization check or credit card. The name on the payment must be the same name on the tax form. The local hotel tax of 5% is not exempt.


FEATURED PRESENTER - Tonya Cox, MSW
 
Tonya began working in dementia care in 1995 at the Best Friends Day Center (formerly Helping Hand Respite program) developing and leading activities for persons with memory loss. In 2004, she co-authored The Best Friend's Book of Alzheimer's Activities with Virginia Bell, David Troxel and Robin Hamon. Tonya has presented at numerous local and national conferences on activity programming, Alzheimer's disease and caregiving.
 
Tonya is currently the Vice President for Education and Programs for the Alzheimer's Association — Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter where she develops programs and services for persons with dementia, their caregivers, and professionals throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Tonya currently serves on the Kentucky Alzheimer's Disease Advisory Council and is a part-time faculty member of the Louisville Kent School of Social Work.

The Tennessee Association of Adult Day Services was established in 1986 to provide support to those who provide variety of day services to adults.
 
Among the specific purposes are the following:

  • Sharing information and exchanging ideas
  • Providing staff training to improve the quality of services
  • Promoting the public’s understanding and support of day care for adults who need special care
  • Providing information and support to members about policy and procedures of State licensing
  • Promoting adult day services legislation to State officials and policy makers.
